Artistic Stability & Trouble With the Editor
We agreed that both Artistic Stability and Trouble with the editor are essays. In Artistic Stability, Goldberg’s purpose was to inform the readers not to be affraid, writing is not always perfect. This essay was directed towards both readers and writers. In Trouble with the editor the authors purpose was to inform, persuade, and call to action. This essay was directed towards writers.

Original Detail/ The Power of Detail
The author’s thesis in Original Detail is to use original details. Also, you can use your imagination to create detail. The evidence the author provides is “Oh, no, that bar was on Long Island, I can’t put it in New Jersey” – yes you can. Basically what the author is saying is that even though the bar is in Long Island, if you want to use your imagination and say it’s in New Jersey, you can. In The Power of Detail, the thesis is we are important and our lives are important, magnificent really, and their details are worthy to be recorded. The evidence that the author gives us to support the thesis is “This is what it is to be a writer: to be the carrier of details that make up history, to care about the oranges booths in the coffee shop in Owatonna.

Our group agreed that both sections “Baking a Cake” and “Writting is not a McDonalds Hamburger,” tells us to trust our own voice. They both relate by telling us to bring your ideas together to make an essay. It also tells you not to control ideas let it be born. You made a cake if its not good enough then no one else might not want to eat it.

As a grouped we agreed that both readings “Listening” and “Writers have good figures” are based on basic senses wich are listening and physical posture. In the reading “Writers have a good figures”, she explains the importance of posture while writting and influences how the writting hand becomes so powerful it is capable of over powering a professional boxer. While in our reading “listening” she constantly reminds the reader and influences how the better you can listen the better you can write. In conclusion, we all agreed that in order to become better writters we must maintain a good physical posture as well as become good listeners in order to be better writers someday.
